Canada Cups Blog Tour for Bras, Corsets and Panties!

The Canada Cups blog tour has come to an end. If you followed the tour you’ll have read a blog or two every day that outlined someone’s experience as they followed an on-line underwear (making bras, panties or corsets) class by mostly Canadian instructors on “Craftsy”; the on-line platform with more creative classes than anywhere else! Some classes have been taken by more than one blogger so you get to read about more than one person’s experience – what a great way to find out about classes you thought you may want to take!

For those involved in creating this amazing blog tour it’s been a huge amount of work as they not only had to write about the classes they took, they also had to learn about so many technical bits for Facebook and Blogging – it scrambled my brain at times and I wasn’t taking a class and having to write about it too!

The blog tour has been an awesome if overwhelming experience, for as challenging as it was it brought so many women together, many of whom have never met! It also got them sharing their challenges behind the scenes and on their blogs.  If you haven’t been a part of the tour or if you missed some of the blogpost stops along the way, there is a list below – check them out, and applaud the effort it took each woman to create the garment and to work to the time line.

And...let's face it, if it weren't for "Craftsy" this blog tour would never have come into being. Craftsy has given millions of us (yes, literally millions of us!) the opportunity to take classes we'd never have access to otherwise. They gave Beverly Johnson and myself, Linda Sparks the opportunity to share our knowledge with all of you via teaching classes on Craftsy - Beverly teaches Bra Classes and I teach one of the Corset Classes. So, if you somehow haven't taken a Craftsy class yet...I think the blog tour will have inspired you to give some a try. Everyone's blogs have had links to discounted classes so check out all the blogs on this tour.

If you're interested in upgrading your corset making skills you can get my corset class "Custom Corsets; Bones, Casings and Busks"
Click on the highlighted link (in the next line) - where you'll also find hundreds of other classes including those used by bloggers on this tour.  The Corset Class and More  Clicking the link lets you preview the class and gets you a discount if you decided to sign up! [As the teacher of this class I am an affiliate of Craftsy and due earn a small commission on sales]
Note: Farthingales is working on creating downloadable patterns identical to those used for the class. The first set have already been posted to the website in the "patterns" section; look for "pattern, waist cincherwww.farthingalescorsetmakingsupplies.com
Use coupon code "cancups" for a 15% discount on the website. The code is only good for one order so shop the whole site before checking out.

  1. This is just a fab idea. And the one class I am missing so far if your corset class. Once I am done with the bra classes I'll move on to it.

    1. If you use the link above "The Corset Class and More" you'll get it at a discounted price. Then be sure to save the Coupon Code "cancups" to use on the Farthingales website to buy supplies at a discounted price.

  2. I have all the courses reviewed this week apart from your corset class --- so that's the one I'd choose. I'm finding the idea of making corsets rather intriguing :D!

    1. I get classes whenever they're discounted and I admit...I have a few I've not yet got to. Sort of like fabric stash! So, you can get it now and watch it later. Don't for get to save the coupon code for a discount at Farthingales "cancups"

  3. Oooo... To pick only one class... Hmmm. I'm torn between corsets and bras but since the majority of my sewing is bridal, I think corsetry would be a nice complement.

  7. I would be interested in taking your Custom Corsets class. It would be interesting to try an make one that is comfortable.

    1. My class is not about fit...maybe the next one will be, but fitting the 4 panel waist cincher is pretty easy and a good place to start.

  8. To choose only one course is impossible! These are all totally awesome! But next I want to make foam cup bras! Awe yeah!

    1. Impossible, YES! That's why I have several - some I've not yet had a chance to watch.

  9. I would like to take either Seeing lingerie - essential techniques or the foam cup bra one.

    1. Go for both if they're on sale - or at least preview both and then decide.

  12. Ugh, just choose one?! It would have to be custom corsets but I'd be happy with any of them!

  13. Ooh, tricky! I have all of the bra classes so it would either be the panty one or one of the corset ones.

    ReplyDelete
  14. I have the three bramaking classes on craftsy and would love the undies class!

    ReplyDelete
  15. I already own a few of beverly's classes, but I would love to take the Sewing lingerie - essential techniques

  16. I would add the swimsuit or panties class.

  18. Lavander and lace

  19. Probably the panties class ... or the 2nd bra class (I have the other two)

    ReplyDelete
  20. I would add the corset class! I would love to make one for myself and one for my daughter to get started.

    1. Start with making one for your daughter...it's always easier to fit on someone else.

  21. I don't have any of the corsetry classes, so I suppose they would be next on my list. I'm not sure if I should start with Allison Smith's class or or jump right in to Linda's class.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. That depends on what sewing experience you have. Have you ever made a corset? If not, it might be best to start with Allison's class.

  22. I have all three of Beverly's bra classes, as well as her panties class, and I don't think I really want a corset, so I guess it would be Sewing lingerie - essential techniques. Actually, I could use a new bathing suit, so Beverly's bathing suit class would be great too, but it wasn't one of the classes reviewed this week.

  23. Sew many choices! I would be interested in the corset class.

  26. I would go for the corset class. I have the others, and I've heard that a well-made corset provides better support for a large bust, and can be comfortable (which bras often aren't).

    ReplyDelete

    1. You have heard correctly! A corset supports your breasts from your waist and hips rather than from your shoulders so...no more shoulder strain.

  27. Great tour! So many classes! I am not sure I can choose just one.

  28. Hey Everyone - keep in mind you have to enter at Seam of My Pants (one of the blog site stops on this Blog Tour).

  29. I also have all the bra and swimwear classes, but I'm intrigued by the corset classes. I'm wondering particularly, if corsets help in developing better posture, especially as we age?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Yes Donna they do. And they don't have to be real tight to do it - just comfortably snug. They help take the pressure off the lower back too.

  30. Beverly's 2nd and 3rd bra classes

  34. If I HAVE to pick only one I think I'd start with sewing bras: construction and fit.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I have bought all of Beverly's classes except for the swimwear class. I'd like to take that.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I would like Alison Smith sewing lingerie

    ReplyDelete
  37. Thank you so much for all of the work that has gone into this. I own many, many of the Craftsy classes!

    ReplyDelete
  38. Of all the classes that were reviewed on this tour, I'd want the lingerie class (partly because I've already purchased all of Beverly's classes!). Today I bought V8888, and that class would give me some tips & confidence to make bias cut panties & a cami.

  39. I enjoyed this tour so much! Of all the classes reviewed on this tour, I think I'd love to have Linda's corset class (well, I already own all the bra-making ones!)

  40. So many to choose from! Since I haven't tried my hand at this type of sewing at all, I think I'd start with Beverly's first class.
